Ivory Park CampaignOverview
The Sedimosang Day Care Center began with a dedicated volunteer teacher working in a one-room shack and has grown into a vibrant seven-room center with a strong staff of teachers, care givers, and cooks. Over 170 children come five days a week – many of them AIDS orphans. They range in age from 0 – 5 years. They learn the fundamentals of language, reading, writing, math, and social studies.

Every day they receive a hot, nutritionally balanced lunch. They are grouped by age, and they stay with the same teacher as they progress through the years. The teachers are not only helping them develop the skills they need to succeed in school, but also they are teaching the children how to value themselves, their bodies, and their minds. The teachers help them to dream of a better future and help them develop a foundation to achieve those dreams. Absenteeism is never, ever a problem.

In addition to the Day Care Center, the Ivory Park Community has launched an after school nutrition program for 160 orphans.

Achievable Needs
This project will be self-sustaining in 5 years. The first part of the project (the building phase) is now complete. The emphasis at this point is on sustaining the services that are currently offered. As you develop your individual fundraising goals, it might be helpful to think about how your contributions will be put to use. Here are some of specific costs for the day care center and youth programs:

$6,000 would cover the operating costs of the day care center for a full year.

$1500 would pay the salary of an after-school teacher/tutor for an entire year.

$1200 would purchase a laptop computer (the Community Center would like to have 10 computers available to support the eye clinic, day care center, library, income generating projects and homework programs.)

$375 per month will feed all of the children at Sedimosang one hot meal per day.

$125 per month will pay the salaries of one of the teachers.

eBay Giving WorksREACH GLOBALLY
Join the Campaign for Ivory Park’s online fundraising campaign through eBay Giving Works. Giving Works allows individuals and organizations to donate items for sale or auction on eBay and then to designate a portion of the proceeds to the charity of their choice. The great thing about this fundraising strategy is that it doesn't require your organization to raise dollars so much as it challenges them to collect things and then to organize and coordinate a "virtual garage sale" or online auction.

PayPal DonationDreamAnother online fundraising approach is to collect donations directly through PayPal's Donate Now program. Imagine how simple it would be to reach our goal if we could mobilize 1000 students to raise $50 each by finding 10 people who would contribute $5.00 or more to help us achieve our building goal in Ivory Park. You could do this by collecting donations yourself or by steering people to the Keep It Campaign’s Donate Now site.
